SO YOU’RE MOVING TO THE BERRYHILL NEIGHBORHOOD

Home to 40 recording studio – Berryhill is located just south of Nashville. This up and coming neighborhood offers some refreshing choices for food and fun. Berry Hill is the perfect neighborhood to get away from the city life and appreciate the charm and diversity that Nashville offers.  With its ever-growing food and entertainment scene, Berry Hill just keeps on surprising us with every corner we explore. Here are some of our favorites.

Morning Java: Our favorite coffee shop is none other than, Sam and Zoe’s. You must check out this cozy coffee shop offering many options such as coffee, smoothies, breakfast, and lunch. You can also check out a fun little pancake house right down the road, The Pfunky Griddle, if you are up to the challenge of cooking your own breakfast. This will surely keep your little ones entertained!

Best Playground: We love Sevier Park. It is located less than 10 minutes from the Berryhill neighborhood. The outdoor playset will sure to be a hit for your little ones, and there are also lots of trails for running or walking your fur babies. The indoor community center is another a great space to use for those raining days. Coleman Community Center is also a great option for those seeking fun after school activities.

Casual Eats: Baja Burrito, you know it’s good because there’s always a line out the door. Not only do they have amazing burritos, fish tacos, and chips and queso, the prices are very reasonable. For a lighter and healthier option, I would highly suggest Calypso Café. It has yummy and healthy option for those who also need to pinch some pennies. Another healthy, new establishment is Vui’s Kitchen. It is a fresh Vietnamese restaurant offering fresh and delicious food from Pho Noodle Soup (YUM!) to Bahn Mi Sandwich.

Family Fun: One of the first Escape Game in Nashville opened its door right in the heart of Berryhill. The Escape Game is such a fun place to bring the family together for some wholesome and mystery solving fun. If your family love movies, you must take them to check out the fun, colorful lit theater, Regal Hollywood, to catch a movie.

Grown-Up Fun:  If you are a craft loving person, you must take a trip to The Beaded Bungalow. It’s a crafting person’s paradise. You can take classes on jewelry making or you could take a group of friends. For the beer connoisseurs, be sure and check out, The Sutler, a laid-back bar with yummy food, or The Black Abbey, a brewery with over 25 beers to try.

Staycation Attractions: So you’ve worked a long week, now it’s time to unwind and enjoy your long weekend. For those who love shopping, I highly recommend checking out Nadeau or Gas Lamp Antique. These stores are packed with unique furniture finds and antique decorations that you cannot find anywhere else. For those wanting more of a relaxation experience, I recommend checking out Float Nashville, it is a salt water floating experience, where you are lured to deep relaxation.

Unique Spots: Gilchrist Gilchrist, a family owned shop with loads of shabby chic decors and furniture, winning even the approval of Taylor Swift. Another funky spot to check out is Supreme Kreme. This rolled ice cream shop has instantly become a hit with the locals. You must check it out! For those who are health conscience, check out The Herbal Heart. In this funky little shop, you can find countless herbal remedies for relief instead of taking harsh medications.

So You’re Moving to the Green Hills Neighborhood

Things to do in the Green Hills neighborhood of Nashville

We’ve been moving families into, out of, and around Nashville for over two decades now, and we know one of the best parts about moving is finding your new “favorites”!  You’ll need a new coffee shop to frequent each morning, a park where you can take the kids during school holidays, and a fun spot to hang with your friends in the evening.  Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!  Here are some of our favorite places to visit in the Green Hills area of town.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Nashville's recommendations for coffee in Green HillsMorning Java: When you’re ready for your caffeine fix, we recommend The Well Coffeehouse near Lipscomb!  The Well is our favorite because they are a non-profit, and all of their sales benefit organizations which build wells for poor communities around the world.  Another fun spot is The Perch Cafe, which serves sweet or savory crepes alongside your Morning Joe.

Best Playgrounds: Green Hills has some of the best playgrounds in Nashville!  Our favorite is Fannie Mae Dees Park, also known as Dragon Park to most Nashville parents.  Located near Belcourt Theatre, Dragon Park has a giant mosaic-covered dragon sculpture ready for climbing alongside two different play sets.  Green Hills Park is also nearby, with its playground set in the northwest corner.  And if you want something a little different and bad weather-resistant, check out our friends at Gymboree Play & Music!  Your child can join a Play & Music group where they can groove to some tunes while playing on Gymboree’s fun indoor equipment.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Nashville's recommendations for casual dining in Green HillsCasual Eats: When it’s too late for lunch but too early for dinner, or you’re not quite hungry enough for a full meal, where do you go?  Green Hills has lots of fun options, but we think the best one is the Donut Den.  Their donuts are delicious, and the owners like to employ local college students from Belmont, Vanderbilt, and Lipscomb.  We also recommend eating in the Hill Center at Green Hills, where everyone in the family has plenty of options for snacks.  If you want some Mediterranean cuisine, your spouse wants some sweet and sour chicken, and the kids want to fill their pizza fix, everyone can be happy!

Family Fun: Green Hills is such a great neighborhood for your whole family.  On a nice, sunny day, Radnor Lake is the perfect place to take an easy hike.  The Education Center by the entrance is great for teaching your kids about the local forest animals and plants, and you can even bring a picnic lunch to eat by the water.  If you’re looking for some sit-down indoor fun, check out our friends at Brushfire Pottery.  This locally owned pottery studio offers different sculptures, kitchenware, and other household figures for their guests to paint.  Then Brushfire will glaze your painted pottery to seal the color and give it a smooth, glossy finish.  We especially like Brushfire around Mother’s Day and Father’s Day so your kids can create a unique present for their parents!

greenhouseGrown-Up Fun: The Green Hills neighborhood also has plenty to offer when it’s time for a Girls’ Night Out, your next date, or a big group hang.  For the fitness-loving Nashvillian, we always recommend Krank Cycle Studio.  You can get your exercise while cycling to a nice, loud workout playlist.  After you shower up, visit Kendra Scott in the Hill Center!  Kendra Scott is one of our favorite local businesses because they are so community-oriented.  Nearly every week you can go to a KS Shopping Party and have a huge percentage of your purchases benefit a local non-profit organization.  And when the sun goes down, you can visit one of Nashville’s coolest bar scenes at The Greenhouse Bar.  Drink and dine in an actual greenhouse, complete with water features and allergy-friendly menu options.

Staycation Attractions: When you need a quick break from reality, you can vacation without even leaving the Green Hills backyard.  Make reservations at one of Nashville’s most famous restaurants and music venues, The Bluebird Cafe!  This is the spot where the TV show Nashville actually films their Bluebird scenes, and local songwriters get discovered.  You can even get a taste of France at the local Little Gourmand market and cafe.

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Nashville's favorite spots in Green HillsUnique Spots: Green Hills contains plenty of gems that you can’t find anywhere else, like Parnassus Books!  This bookstore was opened by a local Nashville author and contains lots of books written by other Tennessee authors.  You may find the owners’ two dogs wandering around the store, and even find yourself inside a storybook castle as you peruse the children’s section!  If you’re a dog owner, you’ll also want to visit Winston Dog, Nashville’s own luxury doggie boutique.  And don’t forget the Green Hills Theatre next to the Mall at Green Hills.  It may seem like an ordinary movie theatre, but this one often features limited-release movies and documentaries which normal movie theatres never get to show.
