Paw Patrol Halloween Boxtumes

It’s that time of the year again, Halloween time. It’s time to dust off those fun costumes and bring out the yummy treats. Whether you prefer tricks or treats, it’s a fun time for everyone in the family to get out to make some new friends and load up on delicious treats.

We, at Two Men And A Truck, love Halloween because we get to showcase and participate in our annual tradition of making boxtumes! What might you ask is a boxtume? Well, it’s a costume make out of our boxes, of course! This year, we decided to make the Paw Patrol gang, Marshall, Chase, and Rocky.

Materials needed for boxtumes:
• Two Men And A Truck medium boxes
Multi-colored construction papers
• Glue sticks or spray glue
• Scissors
• Crafting knife
• Spray paint
• Foil
• Ribbons

Steps to make the boxtumes:
• First, I found some templates for the badges and the wheels
• Next, I found some inspirations online for ideas on how to make each of their accessories.
• Then, I moved onto cutting and trimming all the accessories to prepare for each of the costumes.
• Subsequently, I cut out the boxes for fit a person inside.
• Finally, I glued the accessories onto the boxtumes and added ribbons for the shoulder straps.

We can’t wait to show them off at one of the local Trunk and Treat next Friday. Meet us at Our Savior Lutheran Academy, October 27th from 5PM-7PM. We can’t wait to meet you and give you some yummy treats!

For your boxtume needs, feel free to give us a call at 615-248-6288. We will even deliver the boxes you need right to your doorsteps for free! We would love to help you out with any boxes or moving needs to make your holidays stress-free! Check out our website for more information on other services we offer.

Free (and Fun) Events this Fall in Nashville!

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Nashville's top fall events that are free in Nashville

If you’ve just purchased a new house, you’re saving for your next home, or you just prefer to pinch your pennies, you may be looking for some free outings you can enjoy this season! Since the first official day of fall was last Friday, we wanted to share some of the free local events we’ll be taking advantage of between now and December. Hopefully we can help you plan your next stay-cation adventure!

September

Nashville Frist Center has free admission on Museum Day LiveOn Saturday, September 23rd, we’re excited about the Smithsonian’s annual Museum Day, where you can download free tickets to visit any of their participating museums. Here in Nashville, you can enjoy free admission to the Frist Center that day. You could also go to the Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery or Tennessee State Museum, but these never charge for admission.

But maybe museums aren’t your thing. In that case, you can spend the 23rd on the edge of your seat as you watch local aviators show off manned flying machines they have actually created themselves. The Red Bull Flugtag first came to Nashville ten years ago, and we can barely contain our excitement about its return!

The following weekend, the Hermitage (home of President Andrew Jackson) is hosting its annual Fall Festival across its beautiful property on September 30-October 1. The festival always has a great musical lineup, arts and crafts vendors, and of course, history lessons. Just don’t forget to print your free tickets!

October

Nashville OktoberfestBetween October 5-8, Oktoberfest is coming to town again in the Germantown neighborhood! Our festival is the 2nd largest Oktoberfest in the entire country, with eight draft beer stations, a beer garden, and over 100 other vendors spread out over ten blocks. Bring the kids for face painting and games, and let your fur babies join in the fun with the Pup Parade and Dachshund Derby. You can also get your exercise on when you join the 5k Walk/Run and dance to authentic German folk music! Our Dispatcher Darrian is especially excited about going to Oktoberfest because it’s an annual tradition he keeps with his wife.

We recommend taking a break from the beer on Saturday, October 7th to enjoy the Celebrate Nashville cultural festival at Centennial Park. Your whole family can enjoy various international dancers, musicians, and food, plus tour the Parthenon’s interior museum for free. Before you go, be sure to check out their schedule of events so you don’t miss your favorite performers on each stage.

Nashville always has a free Barktoberfest for dogsThe dog lovers of our office are usually more excited about Barktoberfest on October 21st than they are about the traditional Oktoberfest earlier in the month. You and your dogs can both attend in costume and win fun prizes for creativity or group costumes. There are tons of games to play with your pups, plus vendors to shop and win more prizes from!

Those without dogs, like our Marketing Assistant Cara, might be more excited about the Nashville Symphony’s annual Free Day of Music. Throughout the day (and night!), you can tour the Schermerhorn and enjoy popular musical acts, including the symphony itself. Every year, the Free Day of Music changes, so be sure to check out the Nashville Symphony’s website to confirm the date and times!

And to round out the month, you have to check out Historic Franklin’s annual Pumpkinfest on October 28th. Your kids can show off their costumes while they enjoy trick-or-treating, bounce houses, pony rides, and games. And none of you will want to miss the Leiper’s Fork Carving Club with their intricate and impressive carved pumpkin faces. Before you leave, don’t forget to guess the weight of the giant pumpkin grown by Franklin’s sister city, Carleton Place in Canada.

November

Nashville Christmas Craft FairAlthough Christmas won’t be coming around for another 2 months, we recommend checking out McGavock High School’s annual Christmas craft fair on November 4th! Unlike the main Christmas craft festival in Nashville, McGavock’s fair doesn’t have an entrance fee. If you have strong enough will power, you could walk out without spending a cent…but if you do find something you just have to buy, all proceeds benefit the school directly.

The following Saturday, November 11th, you can take the whole family to the Berry Hill Street Festival! Kids can ring in the holiday season with free ornament crafts and cookie decorating, not to mention storytime and the annual parade full of seasonal characters. You can even enter your pets into the Pup Parade to show off their talents and physique while helping raise money for Crossroads Pets.

Did we miss your favorite free fall celebrations? Leave us a comment to let us know! And if you’re looking for help moving this season, please give us a call or text at 615-248-6288, or visit our website for information.

Movers for Mutts Kick-Off: 3 Reasons to Be There

This blog is about the 2015 Movers for Mutts drive! Click here to read about the 2017 campaign!

Movers for Mutts

On Saturday, July 18th, we’ll be officially kicking off our Movers for Mutts campaign to benefit the Nashville Humane Association!  Our goal for Movers for Mutts is to collect the three items they need the most: Paper Towels, Bleach, and Kitten Chow.  (We’ll also, of course, accept monetary donations to turn into a Visa gift card at the end of the campaign.)  So why should you be at our awesome kick-off event?

1. You can meet adorable (and adoptable!) homeless pets.

Teddy’s Wagon will be camping out at our West Nashville location from 10 am-3 pm to show off some of the NHA’s most loveable dogs and cats.  You can stop by anytime to meet and play with your new fur friends.

Nashville Pet Products

2. You can get free goodies for yourself and your pets.

Who doesn’t love free dog treats, leashes, and other fun pet accessories?  Stop by for some freebies from Two Men and a Truck Nashville and a free copy of the latest Nashville Paw magazine issue.  Plus, if you bring ANY donation–even one roll of paper towels or a dollar–you’ll be entered to win one of our amazing raffle prizes:

— Nashville Paw has donated a gift package of a free 1-yr subscription of their magazine, a free t-shirt, and a new collar for your dog.

— See Spot Eat has donated a yummy treat package for your pooch.

— Nashville Pet Products has donated a $50 gift card, good at any of their locations.

— Pet Supermarket has donated a gift basket of pet goodies worth $150.

— And if you don’t have any pets, the Loveless Cafe has donated a Jammin’ Biscuits + Bacon gift basket to win!

Raffle Prize

3. You’ll be supporting an amazing organization.

This is the most important reason to come.  Movers for Mutts is raising awareness for the need to spay and neuter your pets, and for the many animals at the NHA who need forever families.  By coming out to the kick-off event with your family and friends, you’ll help us give donations and support for this great cause!
