Unique career opportunities at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®

Written by Ben Laverdiere

When looking to make a career move, there are similar questions we all ask of a new opportunity. What is the day-to-day work like? How about work-life balance? What is the pay? What kind of health care plan is available? These are all important to ask and take into consideration when making career decisions. But what about when a company offers all of that and something more; how do you value that? What sets a career and company apart from others? Here are three out-of-the-box questions to ask yourself when considering a new career that will offer some unique career opportunities.

Are you making a difference?

The TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Las Vegas crew was eager to get our national community giving program, Movers for Moms®, off to a great start.

Many people strive to make an impact on the business, but how often do we look beyond our career and company, and into the communities we call home? Are you making a difference in the community? Here at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, there is a reason we have identified ourselves as “Movers Who Care®”. Not many companies provide and prioritize opportunities to give back like our company. In 2016 alone, franchises nationwide donated more than $3 million worth of moving services to veterans, struggling mothers, and those in need. One of the greatest things about working for TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is knowing you are able to better yourself professionally while making an impact on the community where you live.

Will your skills be utilized in creative ways?

Does your employer value you and the life experience you can bring to the table? At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, we are always looking for new and creative ways to expand our business, and we rely heavily on the team of people we work with to lend their creativity and passion to move our business forward. Last year we were contracted to provide trucks to transport equipment for the COPA America Centenario soccer tournament. Our local franchises teamed up with Home Office staff to find a new and creative ways to complete this project with excellence. One Home Office team member, Mark List, played a crucial role in coordinating this project with local TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® offices. When asked if he ever thought he would have an opportunity like this in his role as a DOT and fleet safety specialist, this was his response.

“No way, even last year I wouldn’t have believed it,” List said. “I think far too often, people (and myself early in my time here) look at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® as strictly a residential moving company, but thanks to our National Accounts team, we are changing that! As a brand, COPA solidified the fact that we can take on anything when we band together as a system. I was very fortunate to have a solid team of individuals that helped me at the local franchise level. These days, very little surprises me regarding TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® as a company and brand, because we continue to take on new challenges and conquer them together.”

It’s important to align with a company that identifies you as an important part of the organization and fosters an environment were you are given the chance to use your skills to meet unique business needs.

Do you believe in the brand?

A lot of companies have mission statements or core values that are posted on websites and printed on walls, but never talked about. At TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, our mission is to “move people forward”, both in business, and in life. Our core values come through on all levels of business. Whether you are working with customers or coworkers, it’s evident that TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® works hard to create a workspace and culture that helps you to be the best version of yourself. It’s easy to believe in a company and a brand that always has the best interest of others in mind.

We all want a career that provides good pay, work-life balance, and benefits, but that is not all that makes up a dream job. In most cases what makes a career truly fulfilling is that you believe in the service or product your company offers, that you are given the chance to try new things, and you can make an impact on the community you live in. That is why at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, we strive to prioritize the things that make us truly a unique career destination.

Hopefully this these questions will help you to gain some unique perspective when considering what you want out of your next career move. To make that next move with TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®, visit our careers website to view open jobs and apply online today!
