Memorial Day Weekend- We Came, We Saw, We Survived!

Memorial Day Weekend- We Came, We Saw, We Survived!

This past Memorial Day weekend most people were honoring the sacrifices the service members of our country with spending time with the ones they love. This holiday weekend is typically done with lots of red, white, and blue, barbecues, and pool parties. However, what most don’t know is that this is also the busiest weekend to move in the entire year!

While we at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Austin locations wish we were planning for a fun grill party, we were actually prepping for our version of D-Day. With a few bumps and bruises, I am happy to report that we survived!

As my time in the moving industry passes, I absorb lots of information that I never thought I would have. So due to my love of learning and trivia, I decided to list and pass along three random bits of knowledge that I have acquired as a result of being curious. Hope you enjoy!

  1. The best days to move are during the week! Most people plan for their moves on the weekend, so if you want to make sure your professional movers are well rested up for your big moving day, it is best to schedule a move during the week (ideally Tuesday-Thursday).
  1. The best day to move is during the middle of the month. Most people tend to move at the beginning or end of the month, so if you want if you have the flexibility to move in the middle of the month, it is suggested.  Otherwise, you may have a more difficult time reserving your moving truck and crew.
  1. The summer is the busiest time to move: did you know that historically about half of all yearly moves occur between May – Labor Day.

Check out our morning roll-out time-lapse video…. It’s pretty neat!
